Offsite Facilitation Centers (OFC)

What does OFC stand for?

OFC stands for Offsite Facilitation Centers and it refers to U.S. Embassies and Consulates located in foreign countries that offer biometric testing to visa applicants.  In order to visit a OFC, you must reserve an appointment with the consulate or embassy beforehand. Offsite Facilitation Centers are also called Visa Application Centers.

Typically, visa interviews take place before biometric information is requested or required, therefore you would most likely be visiting the OFC at least twice. Some consulates may allow you to schedule both the interview and the biometric testing on the same day but it is not guaranteed.

What do you need to visit an OFC?

You should bring the following materials with you when going to your appointment with an OFC:

  • A passport
  • A printed confirmation of your appointment time
  • A printed online visa application confirmation page
